'Rogue One' Theatrical Poster Analysis

Rogue One's official theatrical poster was revealed on The Star Wars Show this afternoon, along with the announcement that the film's final trailer will be arriving "tomorrow morning." The unsurprisingly gorgeous poster puts Jyn Erso front in center, with the Death Star and Darth Vader's ghostly face behind her. The Death Star plans themselves make an interesting appearance, blending in with Jyn's face and shoulder.
The rest of the characters stand in various dramatic poses below Jyn. Saw Gerrera looks particularly heroic on the far left, with K-2SO above him and Cassian Andor in the center, holding a blaster rifle like he knows how to use it. Below him, Chirrut Îmwe readies his staff for battle, Baze Malbus looks grumpy with his signature blaster, and Bodhi Rook stands with some large spool of wire on his back. Orson Krennic doesn't get a ton of attention but still looks scary and serious above Baze.

The bottom of the poster features the Scarif beach. A Star Destroyer floats in the clouds with TIE fighters, an X-Wing, a U-Wing, and a TIE Striker flying underneath. Stormtroopers patrol the shallow water, flanked by AT-ACT walkers.
The poster improves on the teaser poster by giving us a clear look at the film's characters and staying true to the crowded structure that have made previous Star Wars posters so iconic. At the same time it has a slightly different feel, which is appropriate given Rogue One's status as a standalone Anthology film.

What do you think of this poster? Tell me in the comments or tweet to @SithObserver, and make sure to come back tomorrow to check out our breakdown of the final Rogue One trailer. May the Force be with you all.
